Dan and Mike are both retired police officers and veterans of the United States Marine Corps. Dan and Mike both served on the Gloucester County Swat Team and were both awarded the Medal of Honor and Lifesaving with Valor for their actions and the actions of their team during an incident in January of 2019.
Since then, Dan and Mike both medically retired due to trauma which they both experienced in performance of their duties as Police Officers. During their retirement process they experienced numerous untold challenges that nobody was able to prepare them for. Financial and Medical hardships that they experienced has motivated them to start Task Force Pontis to help other officers who may find themselves in the same situation.
When Mike and Dan medically retired their employers, both stopped paying them and took them off the healthcare plan. Never mind that they were mentally injured while in performance of their duties and were seeking help via therapy and medication management. For both Mike and Dan, it took more than a year for the disability pension process to finish which left them both without any form of income or healthcare for the entire year.
The mission of Task Force Pontis is to financially support Police Officers who are experiencing a financial hardship during the pension process. Not only are these officers experiencing a financial hardship, but they are already working through a big change in their life. By being forced into an early unplanned retirement, many officers who find themselves in this situation become severely depressed and struggle to find a purpose again. Throwing a financial hardship on them as well is both unfair and morally wrong
